On-call Municipal Engineering Services
APP holds a multi-year contract with the City Public Works Department to provide municipal engineering services to review land use applications, plan check development plans, inspect approved land development construction, inspect approved work in the public right-of-way, public works encroachment permit inspection, capital improvement project design, construction management and inspection, water quality program management and to provide additional staff on an as-needed basis.
Primary services involved the engineering implementation of the City's Opportunity Studies Area (OSA) that comprises five developments totaling over 3,800 housing units; design of the Los Alisos Boulevard resurfacing project; conducting the annual sidewalk survey; and inspection of the catch basin insert project. The OSA projects include: plan check and inspection of all facets of development including map approval; rough grading; precise grading; street and storm drain improvements; park development; and median and parkway improvements.
There are currently four major residential development projects within the city. During the next three years (2016-2019), staff will be reviewing development plans for Baker Ranch with approximately 1,900 residential units; Portola Center with over 900 residential units; the Encanto project with 52 residential units; and the Parkside project with 250 residential units. It is anticipated the level of land development activities will remain high as the OSA participants will continue developing their properties. APP will continue to provide plan check for tract maps, grading plans, and street improvements plans, and inspections of permitted work.
