Beach Pedestrian and Bicycle Path
APP provided project management and construction management services for major improvements to this path, a favorite of walkers, runners and bicyclists. APP staff managed the project design, entitlement process, including administering the coastal development permit requirements and the bidding and award process.
The project constructed an 11-foot-wide, resin-paved pedestrian path north of the bicycle path, along 3.1 miles of the shoreline. A 1.5-mile portion was relocated and rebuilt. New pedestrian and bicycle ramps were constructed at the Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier. Storm drain outlets were reconfigured to accommodate the pathways. Changes included relocating palm trees impacted by the improvements. Landscaping was installed on two medians and the eastern pier ramp wall. About 23,000 square feet of turf area was installed between the Junipero parking lot and Bixby Park. Other upgrades included bike racks, volleyball courts, new signs and striping.
